A Message from the Board

Dear Fellow Nordic Enthusiasts,

The Powder Pass Nordic Club accomplished many goals in 2012 and are gearing up for an exciting 2013. One of the major achievements of our club was being granted by the IRS our own tax-exempt status. Our club is now recognized as a 501(c)(4). Specifically, that means our club has tax-exempt status and businesses that wish to donate can do so and write-it off. It was a long process and many thanks go out to Allison Barnes for all of her hard work to help our group make that goal a reality.

In late 2011, we purchased some equipment that has helped tremendously in the grooming of our trails. We purchased a new SkiDoo Snowmachine and a Yellowstone Track System Roller/Packer. This equipment was purchased with money given by the Johnson County Rec. Board.

As for 2013, we have many exciting events planned. On January 19th, we will be hosting our annual Chili Fest at Willow Park beginning at 10am. As always there will be tasty chili and treats as well as people offering lessons and guides on the trails.

On February 2nd, we will once again be having the Pole Creek Challenge. Every year more and more people participate and we look forward to record numbers having fun again. Look for your registration forms to be available at the YMCA around the middle of January. In addition, the club is always seeking volunteers to help with this event. If you are not interested in skiing the race, but want to be a part of it, then let us know because we can always use your help.

Finally, we hope to offer some other events such as an introduction to skate skiing as well as another full moon ski. Always look on our website at https://sites.google.com/site/powderpassnordic/ for announcements about upcoming events as well as updates on snow conditions at Pole Creek and Willow Park. We can also be found on Facebook.

We are so fortunate to live in a community where people have been so supportive of our club. We have many people who volunteer their time to organize races, take care of trails, groom ski runs and more. Also thanks to all that have donated money to our organization in the past. The money you donate is greatly appreciated and is vital to maintaining our equipment and enhancing our trails.

A goal that our club has for 2013 is to try and find a way to recognize the people who contribute to making our club and trails great every year. We hope to down the road develop a logo that represents what our club is about and as contributing members of our club provide you with a static sticker for your vehicle that you can display proudly that says your a supporter of Powder Pass Nordic. Stay tuned for details and any artists out there with cool ideas, then we would love to hear from you.

Our club can always be reached by contacting our President Aaron Kessler at 684-2525 or by e-mail at powderpassnordic@gmail.com. Donations and other correspondence can also be sent to our mailing address at PO Box 14, Buffalo, WY 82834.

Sincerely,

Powder Pass Nordic
