The Powder Pass Nordic Club (PPNC) is a volunteer organization whose sole purpose is to promote cross-country skiing and snowshoe activities that encourage camaraderie while fostering an awareness of safe winter recreation and stewardship of the land. PPNC supports non-motorized winter recreation on the southern Bighorn National Forest through a volunteer agreement with the United States Forest Service. The club provides consistent trail maintenance and packing at the Willow Park Nordic Ski Area as well as consistent maintenance, packing and grooming of trails at Pole Creek XCountry Ski Area. PPNC provides monitoring of trail usage in the non-motorized, non-maintained area known as Powder Pass 449. The organization also hosts events including the popular Pole Creek Challenge, the annual Chili Fests at Willow Park and Pole Creek, and various educational and recreational outings. The PPNC is considered a 501 (c) (4) tax exempt organization. The club plans to reapply for recognition as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit in the future. |
